Oprah Gives Powerful #MeToo Speech At Golden Globes
  • 6 years ago

Last night at the Golden Globes was a big night for women. Oprah Winfrey accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award. She delivered a powerful speech, perfectly timed to the #MeToo and #TIMESUP movements, in which she declared, “A new day is on the horizon.” She also told the story of Recy Taylor, a young black mother who was kidnapped and raped in 1944 by three white men. The Cecil B. DeMille Award is a Golden Globe honor bestowed on a recipient for "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment."
