Rouhani Says Young Iranian Protesters Are Unhappy About More Than The Economy
  • 6 years ago
On Monday, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani claimed that young Iranian protesters were unhappy about more than just the economy and they would no longer defer to the views of an aging revolutionary elite. The sixty-nine year-old pragmatic cleric suggested that there was a generational element to the ongoing unrest, as the protests have largely been driven by people under twenty-five years old. Rouhani said, "We cannot pick a lifestyle and tell two generations after us to live like that. It is impossible... The views of the young generation about life and the world is different than ours."
