Iraq's port city Basra sees theatre revival

For the first time in nearly 15 years, a theatre has opened its doors in Iraq's southern city of Basra, an event seen by audiences and artists as a sign of a cultural renaissance in the populated port city. This first play, an operetta, was held on December 28th in a room built by a businessman inside a mall.
