Halt to domestic water wells could stop growth in Pahrump

Nevada's top water regulator puts a moratorium on domestic wells in Pahrump, where the water table has been in decline since the 1950s. State Engineer Jason King says the area's groundwater is "severely over-appropriated." Oz Wichman, general manager of the Nye County Water District: “You have to draw the line somewhere." District projections are that 400 existing wells could dry up by 2035, and 3,000 could fail by 2065.
