In what could be dubbed as a great boost to women's right , Iceland has become the first country in the world to pass a law that makes it illegal to pay men more than women. The legislation that was passed in 2017 came into effect on January 1st 2018. Under the new law a company or a government organisation having a staff of atleast 25 people will have to obtain government certification of their equal-pay policies. Iceland has been placed on the top position by World Economic Forum as the country for gender equality. According to the latest World Economic Forum report, the top five best performers in the global gender gap are Iceland, Norway, Finland, Rwanda and Sweden. Watch this video to find out more.
