Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti, better known as Dalida, was a French singer and actress. She spent most of her career in France and acquired French citizenship in 1961 upon marriage, while maintaining her original dual Egyptian-Italian.

Édith Piaf (nee Édith Giovanna Gassion) was a French cabaret singer, songwriter, and actress who became widely regarded as France's national chanteuse, as well as being one of France's greatest international stars. Her mother, Annetta Giovanna Maillard was of French descent on her father's side and of Italian and Moroccan origin on her mother's, and she was a native of Livorno, Italy.

Constantin "Tino" Rossi was a French singer and film actor. Born in Ajaccio, Corsica, he was gifted with a voice well suited for opera. Beside French, he also sang and made recordings in Italian.

Rina Ketty, whose real name was Cesarina Picchetto, was an Italian singer, notably of the legendary song J'attendrai. The song reached superstatus during WW2 and was appreciated by Allied soldiers and Axis soldiers alike. It is often thought that Rina Ketty was born in Turin, Italy. However, in reality she was born in Sarzana, a small village in Liguria.

Georges Brassens was a French singer-songwriter and poet. He wrote and sang, with his guitar, more than a hundred of his poems, as well as texts from many others such as Victor Hugo, Paul Verlaine, or Louis Aragon. His mother, Elvira Dagrosa, came from southern Italy (Marsico Nuovo in Basilicata).

Yves Montand was born Ivo Livi in Monsummano Terme, Italy. Montand went on to international recognition as a singer and actor, starring in numerous films. His recognizably crooner songs, especially those about Paris, became instant classics.

Léo Ferré was a French-born Monégasque poet and composer, and a dynamic and controversial live performer, whose career in France dominated the years after the Second World War until his death. He relocated to Italy in 1969, where he spent his final years.
