Banks are always considered a safe place to keep valuables like money, gold and other things but have you ever heard of a bank that stores ashes. Well there is a bank in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district which safe keeps the holy ashes of the deceased relatives. According to Hindu tradition, the holy ash cannot be taken to one’s home until 14 days after the cremation; hence Yug Dadhichi Deh Dan Sanstha came up with an initiative to open a bank where people can keep their loved one’s holy ash for 30 days. Owner of the Asthi Kalash Bank, Manoj Sengar also urges the people not to immerse the holy ash into rivers rather bury it in the ground. Since its establishment in 2014, thousands of people have deposited ashes here and now Senger aims to open its branches in various parts of the state.
