Ferry Breaks Ice on Lake Superior

Lake Superior was covered with ice near Bayfield, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, January 2, but it didn’t stop the Madeline Island Ferry Line. The ferry has been running continuously for 1,016 days, the company said on Facebook.The company’s website lists a schedule for November 27 “through freeze up.” It also posted a reduced schedule on Facebook, noting that it was weather permitting.The National Weather ServIce reported temperatures have been below freezing for 14 days in a row in the region.
