Trump To NYT: Lose 'Phony' Sources, Treat Me 'Fairly'

President Trump again went after the New York Times in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

President Trump is urging the incoming publisher of the New York Times to lead the paper in a way that is true to the intentions of its founder.
"The Failing New York Times has a new publisher, A.G. Sulzberger. Congratulations! Here is a last chance for the Times to fulfill the vision of its Founder, Adolph Ochs 'to give the news impartially, without fear or FAVOR, regardless of party, sect, or interests involved,'" Trump wrote in a series of tweets on Tuesday. "Get impartial journalists of a much higher standard, lose all of your phony and non-existent 'sources,' and treat the President of the United States FAIRLY, so that the next time I (and the people) win, you won't have to write an apology to your readers for a job poorly done!"
The apology appears to reference a letter the Times' then-publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. and executive editor Dean Baquet issued shortly after the 2016 election.
It acknowledged underestimating the Trump campaign and offered assurances that the Trump administration would be covered fairly.
The president has made the paper one of his consistent targets, calling its coverage of him "false and angry," and "DISHONEST."
He has also accused it of reporting "anonymous sources and meetings that never happened," and asserted that the New York Times—and the media at large—"protect Hillary!"
