Former President Barack Obama took to Facebook on Sunday and shared his favorite books and music of 2017.

Barack Obama is known to be a lover of books and music, and he recently shared some of his 2017 favorites in both categories.
"During my presidency, I started a tradition of sharing my reading lists and playlists. It was a nice way to reflect on the works that resonated with me and lift up authors and artists from around the world," he wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday. "With some extra time on my hands this year to catch up, I wanted to share the books and music that I enjoyed most."
Among his most highly regarded reads are Matthew Desmond's "Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City," and "Exit West" by Mohsin Hamid.
"Anything Is Possible" by Elizabeth Strout, "Dying: A Memoir" by Cory Taylor, and Jesmyn Ward's "Sing, Unburied, Sing" are mentioned as well.
The former's president's top music picks include, "Mi Gente" by J Balvin & Willy William, "The Joke by Brandi Carlile," and Chance the Rapper's "First World Problems," a song that features the talents of Daniel Caesar.
"The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness by The National Chanel" by Frank Ocean and Harry Styles' "Sign of the Times" also made the list.
Obama did a bit more list-making via Twitter, highlighting some of the stories in 2017 "that remind us what's best about America."
Among those highlighted is the "wedding planner in Houston [who] turned a postponed wedding into a volunteer opportunity for Hurricane Harvey victims. Thirty wedding guests became an organization of hundreds of volunteers."
Another is NFL player Chris Long's decision to donate a season's salary "to fund scholarships in Charlottesville, VA."
