Do White Working Class Voters Act Against Their Own Interests?

As his first year in the White House draws to a close, Donald J. Trump remains a singular character. He exists well outside the boundaries of what most observers previously judged possible and respectable in American politics. His actions have called into question whether white voters are voting against their own interests. Several nonpartisan analyses conclude his policies will lower taxes on the wealthy and raise them for the working class. Some think white working class voters settled for a wall that will never be built.
