Trump: Media Will Eventually Cover Me Favorably Because They Want Me Re-elected

President Trump said in an interview with The New York Times that the media outlets "basically have to let me win" in 2020.

During his presidency, Donald Trump has gone after the media on numerous occasions, claiming that most of the stories are negative and not much coverage is given to his accomplishments.
However, in an interview with the New York Times on Thursday, the president predicted that the coverage would start to get more favorable closer to 2020 because he's a big ratings draw and major media companies would want to see him serve the second term as well.
"Another reason that I'm going to win another four years is because newspapers, television, all forms of media will tank if I'm not there because without me, their ratings are going down the tubes," Trump told the Times. "So they basically have to let me win. And eventually, probably six months before the election, they'll be loving me."
In the past months, Trump has repeatedly attacked various media outlets on Twitter.
"The Fake News refuses to talk about how Big and how Strong our BASE is. They show Fake Polls just like they report Fake News. Despite only negative reporting, we are doing well - nobody is going to beat us. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" The president wrote in a series of tweets on Sunday. "The Tax Cut Reform Bill, including Massive Alaska Drilling and the Repeal of the highly unpopular Individual Mandate, brought it all together as to what an incredible year we had. Don't let the Fake News convince you otherwise...and our insider Polls are strong!"
