Why Tyres Are Black In Colour - DriveSpark

Why are tyres black in colour? Of every colour present in the world, why are tyres made in black?

Carbon black is a readily-available material that reduces wear and increases heat-dissipation capabilities of rubber.

Natural rubber is off-white in color, and the first rubber tyres ever made came in white. Vulcanized rubber is soft and wears out very quickly, and tends to heat up and deform under load.

In order to prevent this, a carbon-black filler is added to natural rubber, during tyre production.

Now you know why tyres are black in colour.
