Great white shark filmed stalking surfer near San Francisco, California

A SURFER has recorded the moment he came face-to-face with a great white shark after the monstrous predator stalked him off the coast of California.

In the clip, the surfer can be seen paddling on his board with the San Francisco coastline in the background.

He turns to confront a huge wave approaching from the left.

As he does so, a fin appears above the water in a scene befitting of Jaws.

Panicking, the man can be heard breathing heavily as he readjusts to point his board back towards the shore.
But thankfully for the surfer, the enormous shark appears to have other things on his mind and opts against having an early lunch.

The clip – recorded on a GoPro camera – was filmed on 12 December and uploaded to YouTube on Boxing Day with the title “great white shark encounter”.

The bloke recording it was clearly shaken by the experience, too.

He wrote: “I was out surfing. When I was paddling towards a wave, I turned on my GoPro.

“Such was my concentration in getting set that the first second I saw the fin, I sort of tried to race it so I could get the second wave of the set.

“Then I stopped and thought about what had just happened.”
Onlookers were equally stunned by the footage.

One simply wrote: “Lucky!”

“Brown water situation,” another cheekily added.

While one sceptic said: “Definitely not a great white but a small shark.”

It comes just a day after a great white horrified a family as it circled a boat near Melbourne, Australia.
