Teacher Uses Voice to See if Monarch Butterflies React to Low Pitch Sounds

Alison, a teacher, based in Quebec Canada, was showing her students how these monarch butterflies react to sound. When the kids spoke, their high pitch voices didn’t cause a reaction, but when Alison spoke, the butterflies banged their heads! This is what the uploader told Storyful about the hilarious video:“We try to raise some monarchs each summer, and noticed that when I spoke, the caterpillars banged their heads, whereas when kids spoke, no headbanging. We thought it was related to frequency and so tested out the theory.” Credit: Alison Feniak via Storyful
