Saudis Say Houthi-Claimed Missile Intercepted in Sky Above Riyadh

A missile exploded in the sky over Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on December 19, and caused no injuries.In this footage, streaks of white and circular cloud appear in the sky.Speaking at the end of the video, the person filming says they are near the Sulimaniya neighborhood in Riyadh, located west of the international airport. Residents in Riyadh reported hearing the sound of an explosion shortly before 2 pm on December 19.The Houthi affiliated media outlet Al-Masirah said Houthi forces fired a Burqan H2 missile targeting the palace in Riyadh where Mohammad bin Salman, the head of the Saudi government, was leading discussion about the country’s budget.Al-Masirah quoted a spokesman for the Houthi forces who said the royal palace was a legitimate target after the Saudi-led coalition forces bombed the Republican Palace in Sanaa, Yemen, on December 4.A spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition said Saudi forces intercepted the missile, causing it to explode.Houthi forces in Yemen previously fired a missile that landed east of the international airport in Riyadh on November 4, but caused no injuries.The United States and Saudi Arabia accuse Iran of supplying ballistic missiles and other support to Houth forces in Yemen, in violation of UN sanctions prohibiting both weapons export from Iran and the sale of weapons to the Houthis.
