Permission To Fly by Viv Smith Erik Nachtrieb - Best Doco - Drone Film Festival ANZ x SanDisk
  • 6 years ago
Best Documentary Film - Drone Film Festival Australia + New Zealand presented by SanDisk 2017.

A short documentary 'Permission To Fly' directed by Vivienne Smith and Erik Nachtrieb at 1iOpen Productions.

High in the Himalayas, between Pakistan, China and India, the team from 1iOpen Productions navigate the government and military regulations to bring in and fly a custom built octocopter to film 'The World's Highest Marathon'.

After two weeks on the ground in Ladakh they had accomplished much more - flying the first civilian drone in the region, clocking their highest flight at over 18,000ft and showing locals that drones can be used for creativity rather than just military action.
