Flash back a few years ago and Dane Reynolds needs a web site. However, the ill-fated DaneReynolds.com just aint cutting it. Frustrated by the glacial pace and lack of creative control inherent in the surf web 1.0, Dane enlists the help of his good friend and filmer, Jason 'Mini' Blanchard, to collaborate on a web site that will change the face of surf filmmaking as we know it. Inspired by Globe's efforts with Dion Agius in the popular blog/vlog dion.tv, Dane and Mini launch Marine Layer Productions in a bold move to, in Mini's words, "f*ck everyone." Just kidding, sort of. They take cyberspace by storm with quirky edits of Dane riding weird boards cut to even weirder music. In doing so, they unwittingly bring surfing web clips into the 21st century and give their audience a fun-first, warts-and-all look at one of the best surfers in the world.
