How do you distil happiness, nostalgia, melancholy and love into a single sound? That was the idea behind Stella by Starlight. Born on a chilly January evening in 2012, the project was originally intended to be an outlet for guitarist/songwriter Hayden Scott’s 'orphan songs'. But after joining forces with Shimol Sachdev and Nigel Rajaratnam, it quickly became apparent that something special was in the offing. Sneh (bass) and Naama (drums) came on board in early 2014 to usher in a new and exciting chapter for the band. With shades of pop, and folk, Stella By Starlight have a unique sound that alternates between soulful ditties and Sunday-afternoon-beach-party anthems.
