Mixing the wave-drenched vibe of surf bands from the likes of The Trashmen and Dick Dale, combined with modern garage rock, and crooning that could be described as the lovechild of The Big Bopper and Lux Interior from The Cramps, Octo Gato is a rock band out of South Florida, that just wants to get tropical. Octo Gato is current-ly composing tracks for a full-length album, and has independently released three EP’s thus far.
Started in 2014 and currently floating on its third iteration, Octo Gato has downsized to a tightly knit three-piece crew, with Captain Octo (Mike Locke), the projects originator, at the helm. Formerly only on vocal duty, he is now the sole guitar player, with Sergeant Seaweed (Dustin Kessler) on bass and backup vocals, and Commander Crabcake (Dave Nordstrom) on drums. With the success of their video release for the single “Superpuss”, the Octo-boys are far from fin-ished, and plan to ride the wake with a 2015 tour and more music videos for all to sea.
