If you've been around the Alps as long as veteran Michael 'Bird' Shaffer you've seen a few things. But even Bird had never seen a Spring as good as 2013 when April and May brought Chamonix some of the biggest Spring snow dumps it has experienced in 30 years.
Tag along on Bird's shoulder as he captures the routes less traveled on a head mounted video cam from the Aiguille du Midi lift station. He and his crew ski and speedride down some of the most amazing chutes and powder bowls in the world.
Ski descents include Glacier Rond, Couloir des Cosmiques, Face nord de la Tour Ronde, Face nord de l'Aiguille du Midi, voie Mallory, Couloir Eugster, voie Frendo glacier d'Argentière, and Aiguille du Remue couloir nord-est. Speed Riding/Flying descents include Envers du Plan, Face nord de l'Aiguille du Midi, voie Frendo Face nord du col du Plan.
