Gabriele Blandamura nasce e cresce a Roma, dove inizia a suonare ai tempi del liceo bene o male come tutti. Fa esperienza in vari gruppi, va a vari concerti, compra molti più dischi di quanti non se ne potrebbe permettere, si laurea in Lettere e Filosofia e diventa giornalista pubblicista.
Durante il 2012 crea assieme ad un gruppo di amici musicisti All Together Now, una serata open mic destinata a diventare un punto di riferimento per artisti più o meno noti della scena indipendente romana: stabilitasi nel live club Le Mura a partire dalla stagione 2013-2014, All Together Now ha dato la possibilità di esibirsi e di conoscersi a centinaia di gruppi ed ha addirittura finito per stimolare la nascita di nuove formazioni.
Proprio grazie ad All Together Now Gabriele conosce Tommaso Paradiso e a partire dal febbraio 2013 inizia a suonare il basso con i Thegiornalisti.
Durante il tour di “Vecchio” inizia a pensare all’idea di tornare a scrivere anche da solo. Parallelamente prende forma l’idea di fondare un’etichetta discografica e nell’ottobre 2014 mai stato altrove è uno dei tre progetti presentati durante il live di presentazione di Bravo Dischi (nata assieme a Fabio Grande, produttore ed autore de I Quartieri, Alessandro Lepre, fondatore dei Fantasmi e dei The Shalalalas ed Emanuele Mancini, gestore de Le Mura e frontman dei Mamavegas).
Dopo il fortunato tour di “Fuoricampo” Gabriele registra il suo primo disco a nome mai stato altrove, che sarà anticipato dall’uscita del singolo “Ginsberg”
Gabriele Blandamura is a musician based in Rome, bass player for THEGIORNALISTI since 2013, now presenting his solo project named MAI STATO ALTROVE.
His first record HIP HOP has been published in 2016 by italian indie label BRAVO DISCHI.
"I chose MAI STATO ALTROVE as a name (it means something like "i've always been here") to try to tell that I finally accepted that I'm a musician. I didn't grow up in arts, my father is a doctor and he only listen to traditional italian music. My family always supported me, but anyway I felt kind of guilty when I thought about putting music above anything else. But in the end that's what I am, I understood that writing songs is such an important part of myself and I decided to call myself MAI STATO ALTROVE as a kind of memento.
I hope that you'll understand why I called my album HIP HOP by listening to the songs. It's kind of pop music obsessed with rhythm. It's made by 9 songs that talk about me and what I think of during my days: I waste a lot of time on thinking about stuff and I tried to talk about my thinking. I think I really believe in love and I hope you can feel this idea inside my music".
