Sonny Casey began busking on the streets of Galway the summer she turned seventeen. Exposed to the lyrics of largely Bruce Springsteen from a young age, and having written stories and poems all her life; she soon began to write lyrics of her own. From singing on Shop Street, Sonny found herself somewhere in the middle of the magical Galway music scene, supporting bands, musicians and fellow singer-songwriters in various venues around the city.
Living in Connemara, Sonny writes and sings original songs in both English and as Gaeilge. With her original Irish songs she has won the 'Scléip Gael Linn' songwriting competition two years running and a 'Gradaim Ceoil Nós'.
She released her first original EP 'Tales of Taboos and Summery Blues' last summer.
Once she finishes the Leaving Cert Sonny plans to spend her time singing and writing songs, busking, gigging and travelling the world.
