Il progetto nasce nel gennaio del 2012 dall’incontro tra Luigi Varanese (basso), Costantino Mazzoccoli (chitarra), Emanuele Orsini (batteria), ed Ezio Romano (voce e chitarra). Dopo un primo demo EP realizzato nel 2013 in collaborazione con l'associazione culturale StudioSoundLab e presentato dal vivo il 7 marzo 2013 al Freakout Club di Bologna, la band si dedica all'attività live, calcando i principali palchi del capoluogo Emiliano (Alchemica in apertura ad About Wayne, Freakout in apertura ai Dope Body, Locomotiv in apertura a Martin Hagfors&C+C=Maxigross, Arterìa), spingendosi oltremanica per un live londinese ed una diretta radio nella capitale britannica.
Nel 2014 sotto la direzione artistica e tecnica di Carlo Marrone ed Enrico Capalbo (Soren Larsen), gli Earthset si recano negli studi Fonoprint di Bologna per le registrazioni del primo LP. In soli tre giorni di registrazioni in presa diretta live vede la luce "In a State of Altered Unconsciousness", un concept album il cui tema centrale è quello degli stati alterati di coscienza che diventano ora fonte di riflessione per raggiungere l’autoconsapevolezza, ora momenti di ricercata o sofferta solitudine ed infine di straniamento sensoriale e paura.

The project was born in January 2012 from the meeting between Luigi Varanese (bass), Constantine Mazzoccoli (guitar), Emanuele Orsini (drums), and Ezio Romano (voice and guitar). After a first demo EP made in 2013 in collaboration with the Cultural Studio StudioSoundLab and presented live on March 7, 2013 at the Freakout Club in Bologna, the band is devoted to live activity by lining up the main stages of this city (Alchemica in opening About Wayne, Freakout at Dope Body Opening, Martin Hagfors & C + Max = Maxigross, Arterìa), pushing for a live London radio and a live radio in the UK capital.
In 2014, under the artistic and technical direction of Carlo Marrone and Enrico Capalbo (Soren Larsen), Earthset went to the Fonoprint studios of Bologna for the recordings of the first LP. In just three days of Live Live recordings, "In a State of Altered Unconsciousness" is a concept album whose central theme is the altered states of consciousness that are now a source of reflection to reach self-awareness, now moments of sought-after or solitary loneliness and ultimately sensory and fearful alienation.
