Moore è stato una figura vivace nella scena folkloristica DIY della zona, concentrandosi principalmente su spettacoli di casa per piccoli spettatori. MD Woods is the stage name of singer-songwriter Nicholas Lee Moore from Rochester, NY. Moore has been a vibrant figure in the DIY folk scene of the area mainly focusing on playing house shows for small audiences. With songs telling about the romantic and existential discoveries of a young man raised in rural Maryland or with his passionate and witty performances his music is deeply rooted in the purest traditions of american folk music but Moore's vocal qualities and songcrafting closely tie him to contemporary soul as well. While some of his work, such as the heartbreaking closing track "Everything Is Alive" on "Young and Vain, Vol. I.", opens the door for comparisons with contemporary folk authors like Ryan Adams or Ray Lamontagne, others, like "Under the Covers" from Moore's upcoming release on Lone Waltz Records, tell about his social sensitivity and humorous intellect as well in his approach to songwriting.
