most vocal African-American supporters. The news of Newman's departure comes after the WH announced Dina Powell, Trump's deputy national security adviser, would be leaving after the President's first year in office. Newman worked on outreach to
historically black colleges
and universities and racial disparities in the military justice system. Her official title was assistant to the president and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison. She made $179,700, the top salary allowed by law for White House aides.
