Obama Records A Robocall For Doug Jones In Wake Of Trump's Support For Roy Moore

Former President Obama has debuted a pre-recorded call in support of Doug Jones in Alabama.

The U.S. Senate special election in Alabama looks like it's going to be a close one, and Barack Obama has reportedly stepped in to lend a hand to Democratic candidate Doug Jones.

CNN reports that the former president recorded a robocall for Jones, telling people, "This one's serious. You can't sit it out."
"Doug Jones is a fighter for equality, for progress," Obama further said. "Doug will be our champion for justice. So get out and vote, Alabama."
Obama's involvement in the Alabama race comes amid President Trump's newfound zeal in backing Jones' opponent Roy Moore.
A number of women have, in recent times, accused Moore of sexual misconduct, reports The Hill.
Trump has stood by Moore throughout the scandal's unfolding, initially urging people to consider Moore's denials and ultimately recording a robocall for him.
In the automated pitch for Moore, Trump noted, "We need Roy voting for us and stopping illegal immigration and crime, rebuilding a stronger military and protecting the Second Amendment and our pro-life values. But if Alabama elects liberal Democrat Doug Jones, all of our progress will be stopped full."
It's unclear how much influence the high-profile supporters will have on Alabama voters, but some interviewed by the Washington Post lend the impression it won't be significant.
"We believe in thinking for ourselves," one of the individuals commented.
