In Southern California on Saturday, firefighters made progress in their ongoing, multifront battle against a slew of wildfires that have left at least one person dead, and destroyed hundreds of buildings as over 200,000 residents were forced to flee from their homes this week. As dry Santa Ana winds began to abate, officials lifted evacuation orders for parts of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, while fire crews started to gain the upper hand in containing some of the area's major blazes.
