Roger Goodell Signs 5-Year Extension to Remain NFL Commissioner On Wednesday, the NFL announced that they have extended Roger Goodell's contract for five years. The deal is for around $200 million, similar to his current deal. Goodell had previously asked for $49 million a year, with healthcare and a private jet for life. Unlike his current contract, almost 90 percent of the contract is based on financial targets meaning that if the league fails to hit them, he won't be paid the full $200 million over five years.
