Footage of five baby barn owls taken in by a villager being released back into the wild in southern China.

In the video, captured in Mianyang City in Sichuan Province on October 26, five baby barn owls are placed in a box.

A woman takes them out one-by-one and releases them into the wild. She says 'Their mouths open very big, it is scary. We've never seen it (barn owl) before.'

According to local reports, the animals were found and taken home by the woman.

But because the animals are a protected species in China, the woman was persuaded by police to release them back into the wild.
