Three runaway horses galloping down motorway in Thailand

This was the bizarre moment three runaway horses were seen galloping down a motorway in Thailand.

The horses are believed to have been tethered up before breaking free in Chiang Mai, on December 4 in the morning.

Motorcyclist Tanapath Duemrongtumkiri, 28, spotted the palomino, chestnut and young skewbald running at full speed alongside stunned drivers.

He filmed them for more than a mile at around 8 am before they reached a set of traffic lights and slowed to a canter, then cleverly took a slip road to the left.

Tanapath, a mechanic, said: ''I was very surprised to see the horses and wanted to know who they belong to.

‘’It’s quite unusual to see horses in Thailand. It’s even more strange to see three of them running down the road. It was very dangerous and could have caused an accident.

‘’I thought I was imagining it at first. I had to look twice, then rode my motorbike next to them to record them. They were running quite fast.

‘’I think they escaped from a farm. Somebody will be looking for three horses that have gone missing.''
