Can Rahul live Sonia's dream and work out a revival strategy for party's dwindling fortunes?

The five year wait is finally over. 'Darling of the congress' as he was fondly referred to by Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Gandhi scion Rahul finally took the plunge and filed his nomination for the post of the party president at the congress headquarters. Blessed by Former President Pranab Mukherjee and feted by party veterans including mother Sonia, Rahul's coronation comes in the midst of a disturbing debate on his Hindu-ness in the thick -n-thin of Gujarat elections. Among those who signed papers to propose Rahul's name was Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, earlier seen as having been opposed to Rahul Gandhi taking his mother's place to lead the party. Though Amarinder reiterated that Rahul had proven his worth, at an election rally in gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a swipe at Rahul and congratulated the Congress on their Aurangzeb Raj. PM Modi and other top leaders of the bjp have repeatedly attacked the Congress over the Nehru-Gandhi family's control of the party, contrasting it with the BJP where hey point out most leaders including the PM has had modest origins. The big question is, can Rahul live Sonia's dream and work out a revival strategy for the party's dwindling fortunes.
