Aetna Approves of Mega-Merger With CVS

On Sunday, Aetna's board of directors approved the health insurer’s sale to drugstore chain CVS for approximately $69 billion. The deal will combine one of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefits managers and pharmacy operators with one of its oldest health insurers. It also comes amid healthcare payers and pharmacies dealing with factors such as the Affordable Care Act, rising drug prices and the threat of competition from online retailers such as Amazon.
