Hillary Clinton On Matt Lauer's Downfall: 'Every Day I Believe More In Karma'

Hillary Clinton recently weighed in on Matt Lauer's downfall.
Matt Lauer's firing from NBC on Wednesday prompted many Hillary Clinton supporters to recall his apparent uneven treatment of the 2016 presidential candidate during the "Commander-In-Chief Forum."
Some, as Politico reports, "sensed a degree of justice in the ouster."
Even Clinton chimed in, stating, "every day I believe more in karma," while speaking during a promotional event for her memoir 'What Happened' at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia.
According to PhillyVoice, she referred further to "several 'men who shaped the narrative' during the campaign who have since been sidelined in the wave of sexual harassment scandals."
Clinton also said she'd like to see more women in politics.
Lauer's decision to question Clinton about her emails at length and toss Donald Trump simple, open-ended questions--skipping fact-checking when the answers were untrue--was heavily criticized at the time, notes CNN.
Following news of Lauer's release from the 'Today' show over allegations of "inappropriate sexual behavior" many Clinton backers took to social media.
"Matt Lauer was fired today. One by one, we're finding out the true character of the male journalists who treated Hillary Clinton (and her voters) with seething disdain," Peter Daou, a former Clinton campaign worker, wrote on Facebook.
Neera Tanden, another supporter, cited Lauer as an example of the media's coverage of Clinton at large, writing, "Another person whose interview with Trump was ridiculously soft and interview with Hillary was incredibly tough: Matt Lauer."
While NBC was reluctant to criticize Lauer's candidate forum performance in 2016, the network was swift in responding to the recent complaints about his alleged sexual misconduct.
Lauer has since released a statement noting, "Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly."
