Google lets you set up 2-Step Verification on your Google Account. 2-Step requires you put in a second password every time you log in, typically a six digit code sent to your phone via text. Google Prompt lets you skip the code part of 2-Step and sends a basic Yes/No prompt to your phone every time you enter your password on your Google Account.
