Theresa May won't cancel Trump's UK State visit despite tweets
  • 6 years ago
British Prime Minister Theresa May said she won't rescind her state visit invitation to President Donald Trump despite Trump retweeting an anti-Muslim far-right British account AND calling May out directly on Twitter. “An invite for a state visit has been extended and has been accepted. No date has been set.” Many members of British Parliament debated Trump's action on Tuesday, with more than one demanding that he not be allowed to come the UK for a state visit. The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, also chimed in on the matter. "President Trump yesterday use Twitter to promote a vile, extremist group that exists solely to sow division and hatred in our country." "As the mayor of this great diverse city, I have previously called on Theresa May to cancel her ill-judged offer of a state visit to President Trump."
