President Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday night questioning why Hillary Clinton is not the focus of a government probe.
"Charles McCullough, the respected fmr Intel Comm Inspector General, said public was misled on Crooked Hillary Emails. 'Emails endangered National Security.' Why aren't our deep State authorities looking at this? Rigged & corrupt? @TuckerCarlson @seanhannity," Trump wrote.
The tweet followed a Fox News report on the topic.
In a Monday appearance on 'Tucker Carlson Tonight,' McCullough, the aforementioned former official, said he told Senate Republicans on the foreign affairs and intelligence committees that information above the 'top secret' level was exchanged in Clinton's private email server.
McCullough said he experienced "personal blowback" for pursuing the issue.
The results of FBI investigation into the email server matter were released in July of 2016 and stated that while careless, Clinton's actions were not criminal, notes the BBC.
Months later and days before the 2016 election, then-FBI director James Comey announced a renewed interest in Clinton's emails due to the potential discovery of more of them but soon after suggested nothing pertinent had been found.
President Trump has remained hawkish on the subject of Clinton at large.
Clinton, in a recent interview with the Washington Post's 'Listen Up' podcast, offered her take on why, saying, "Well, he's a little obsessed with me, but I think it's partly his own ego because he knows I got more votes and he knows that there are questions about the election that deserve answers."
