Police removed five Christian protesters from the gate of one of the official residences of the Australian prime minister on November 27. The protesters had chained themselves to the gate to call for an evacuation of refugees from Manus Island.The five, who described themselves as Christian priests and pastors from different congregations across the country, used bike locks to chain themselves to Kirribilli House on Monday afternoon. The Sydney house is the official secondary residence of the Australian prime minister.Pastor Jarrod McKenna, who has visited the refugees on Manus Island and made a public demonstration from atop the foreign minister’s office in Perth earlier in the month, demanded immediate action on the refugee crisis in Papua New Guinea and for Australia to accept New Zealand’s offer to take in 150 refugees.This footage, streamed live to Facebook by Love Makes A Way, a local activist group, shows protesters being confronted by police. The authorities are seen removing the chains from the protesters and leading them away.
