Uber Kept Massive Data Breach Under Wraps

Earlier this week Uber entered a new scandal when it was revealed that two hackers stole the personal information of about 57 million customers and around 600,000 drivers from an Amazon Web Services cloud server the company used in late 2016. According to Uber, the hackers obtained names, email addresses, and cell phone numbers of passengers, and the names and driver’s license numbers of the drivers. When the breach was first revealed to then CEO Travis Kalanick, he declined to make it public.
