Trump administration ending protected status for Haiti
  • 6 years ago
The Trump administration said it will be ending the Temporary Protective Status for Haiti. The dismissal of this designation means that all Haitian immigrants living in the U.S. will be forced to leave or live in the shadows. Haitians will need to leave the country by 2019 or face deportation. The Temporary Protective Status was instituted for the roughly 59,000 Haitians seeking shelter after the 2010 earthquake that ravaged the nation.
