Laporte all smiles after France wins shock vote to host Rugby World Cup

Video of Bernard Laporte, president of the French Rugby Federation, celebrating in London minutes after France won a shock vote to host the Rugby World Cup in 2023.

In the video, shot on Wednesday (November 15), Laporte celebrates with colleagues while on his way to carry out media duties.

France won in the second round of voting with 24 votes against 15 for South Africa. Ireland got eliminated in the first round.

It will be the 10th edition of the tournament that happens to coincide with the 200-year anniversary of the invention of the sport, by William Webb Ellis at Rugby School in England.
