Speedflyer has near-death experience when her wing collapses mid-flight

A scary video has emerged of a speedflyer nearly landing in pine trees at great speed when her wing collapsed due to high winds.

The footage, shot on September 11, captures the moment the speedflyer was thrown into a complete 360 spiral dive towards the ground.

Thankfully she managed to recover recover the glider just meters off the tree tops and landed safely.

"Speedflying is similar to paragliding, but as dangerous as base jumping.
It involves pilots flying small and fast parachutes close to the ground," the filmer wrote.

"Ideally, it should be done in calm conditions without wind or turbulence. However, having hiked for three hours that day, we decided to takeoff rather than walk instead of the strong and gusty conditions on the top of the mountain."
