Justice League’ Actor Ben Affleck Plans To ‘Segue Out’ Of DCEU

Several actors have donned the Batman suit over the past few years, but Ben Affleck was the recent star to play the superhero in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

Affleck has reprised his role as the Dark Knight in the upcoming “Justice League” movie, which got DCEU fans really, really excited. However, Affleck is already hinting that he is planning to give up the role of Batman and pursue other acting projects.

“The new Batman movie being developed by Matt Reeves (‘War for the Planet of the Apes’) is something I’m contemplating,” he told USA Today. “You don’t do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it.”

Despite his plans to leave the DCEU, Affleck said superhero movies are essential in uplifting people’s spirits in this day and age. Superheroes represent hope, and even though they do not exist in real life, watching on the big screen is enough to inspire people that things will somehow work out.

“We certainly are in need of heroes in 2017,” Affleck said. “There’s a lot of stuff going on in the world, from natural to man-made disasters, and it’s really scary. Part of the appeal of this genre is wish fulfillment: Wouldn’t it be nice if there was somebody who can save us from all this, save us from ourselves, save us from the consequences of our actions and save us from people who are evil?”

Meanwhile, even members of the Justice League are feeling hopeless and lost, especially with the death of Superman (Henry Cavill). This is why the role of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) is very important in the film.

“Diana serves as the glue of the team. She finds moments to support every one of the team and make them feel stronger or believe in themselves. But this is not a ‘Wonder Woman’ movie,” Gadot told Cinema Blend about her character’s role.

As for Aquaman (Jason Momoa), he was described as “a devil’s advocate, more of a reluctant hero.” Momoa told Entertainment Weekly of his character: “I’m kind of the one who doubts everything.”
