Small Area Propelled Ralph Northam to Victory in Virginia
  • 6 years ago
A small, but very populated corner of Virginia helped Democratic Governor-elect Ralph Northam cement his victory Tuesday night against GOP opponent Ed Gillespie. In the southeast region, which includes the cities of Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk, Northam was able to garner around 72,500 more votes than Gillespie. In Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, Northam was even able to flip places that went for Donald Trump in the 2016 general election.
