Meryl Streep Clarifies 1979 Interview About Dustin Hoffman

Meryl Streep has kind of come to Dustin Hoffman’s defense… at least when it comes to a Time magazine article from 1979 about the first time they met.

In the interview, they quoted the 68-year-old actress saying he came up to her and said he put his hand on her breast… and she thought, what an obnoxious pig.

But Streep’s rep said the article was not an accurate rendering of that meeting, adding there was an offense and it was something for which Dustin apologized and Meryl accepted it.

Dustin has never publicly responded to the article.

Hoffman has come under fire after a production assistant claimed he sexually harassed her while she worked on the set of the 1985 TV film Death of a Salesman.

After being contacted for the story, Hoffman said he had the utmost respect for women and he feels terrible that anything he might have done could have put someone in an uncomfortable situation.
