Two of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history happened within 35 days. The first was deemed the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history and happened on October 1, 2017, when gunman Stephen Paddock fatally shot 58 people and injured over 500. Then on November 5, 2017, Devin Patrick Kelly murdered 26 people at First Baptist Church in rural Texas. The shooting comes number five after the Pulse Nightclub massacre, in which were 49 killed, the Virginia Tech shooting, which claimed 32 lives, and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, in which 27 were fatally shot. 18 deadly mass shooting have occurred in the U.S. over the last decade.
