DIY Fireplace Remodel Timelapse (Day 1 of 6) - Demolition

In day one of our fireplace remodel, our primary goal is to demolish the existing volcanic rock fireplace and hearth. We use a Bosch rotary hammer with a demolition bit to break up mortar and free the rocks. The demo goes pretty smoothly with only one surprise in regards to the layers of drywall on the wall. We block in a 4x6 header board that will be used to install the mantle later.
