Italy seizes huge drugs haul intended for ISIL fighters

Over 24 million tablets of the so-called ‘fighter drug’ Tramadol destined for Libya have been seized by police in Gioia port in Italy.
The painkiller which dulls pain and suppresses fatigue is reportedly used by ISIL terrorists to increase their battlefield resistance.
The sale of the intercepted drugs worth around 50 million euros on the black market would have gone towards funding Islamic terrorism, according to police.
Another shipment of 37 million tablets of Tramadol was intercepted at a port in Genoa in May.
Italian police believed ISIL leaders planned to sell the packets of painkillers to their foot soldiers in Libya for the equivalent of two euros each, which would have made them around 74 million euros.
