Police in South Australia said an area of the Mulga Valley, near Terowie, had been excavated on November 1 as part of an ongoing investigation into the suspected murder of a man more than 12 years ago.Officers from the Major Crime Investigation Branch also visited two properties in Terowie, about 220km north of Adelaide, as part of the same investigation.Twenty-five-year-old Martin Meffert was last seen alive in February 2005, travelling on a bus en route to Terowie. In October 2013, police said Meffert’s skeletal remains had been found in a house on Packer Street, Terowie.Speaking to local media on November 1, Superintendent Des Bray confirmed the recent well excavation, as seen above, was carried out due to a police inquiry into the possible disposal of evidence relating to Meffert’s death in the immediate area.
