Crowds Demonstrate Outside Venue as Puidgement Holds Press Conference

Crowds gathered on October 31 outside the building in Brussels where dismissed Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont held a press conference.Speaking to reporters, Puigdemont said he would not seek asylum in Brussels and would return to Catalonia when given “guarantees”. He said he had traveled to Belgium to “put forward the Catalan issue in the heart of the European Union,” and that part of the Catalan government would stay in Catalonia to carry on with political activities.Puigdemont also said that the charges being brought against Catalan leaders were “groundless”.He also said he would accept the result of elections called for December 21.
